DarthCoin saw lately many Bitcoin “enthusiasts” that only ask what can do Bitcoin for them… but never ask what THEY did for Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is NOT a God / “Supreme leader” / “ultimate authority” or something like that. It is simply a new form of self governance, self learning process, self finance, participating in a huge human project that help people to be free and sovereign.

Do not expect / wait for somebody else to do stuff for you.

Read, test, learn more about using Bitcoin solutions, apps, wallets etc and participate with anything you can.

ANYTHING counts:

• testing and reporting back to the apps devs with detailed aspects (github repositories are designed for these reports). Do not just complain that something is not working. Yes, be critical, but give proposals and solutions if you can.

• writing guides and documentation for these apps you test

• help with design and features required

• help writing code, if you are skilled, just take from their github some pending issues and help fixing them. Most of the apps are open source and free, those devs are working for FREE so you can have a great app using with your bitcoins.

• help pre-coiners and convince nocoiners to get on board with Bitcoin. Anything you can do it helps. Start with small steps as I described in this guide. Or this one, describing the 5 stages to became a bitcoiner.

• create content that can help future bitcoiners. They weren’t so lucky as you starting in early years. They need good information ! So be careful what you teach them. Do not push them into scams, quick earnings and bullshit shitcoins.

So… Ask yourself my young padawan: WHAT DID YOU DO FOR BITCOIN LATELY?

You don’t know what to do ? Is simple, you can start with:

We've seen many users that are stuck with using one or max two wallet apps and also choosing them for their features and NOT for the specific situation of use.

This is a wrong approach.

Choose your wallets based on your own usage and situation you encounter using your BTC. Some aspects to be taken in consideration:

• There's no such thing as "best wallet" for everything. Remove this bias from your mind. Choose with your own knowledge, not because x and y told you so.

• I would not "recommend" any wallet app in particular, but those that are open source and have a good reputation/history and respect the golden rule of Bitcoin: not your keys, not your bitcoins.

• Stay away from "multicrapto" wallet apps. Are a fucking trap and usually are not open source! Bitcoin Only! You have been warned!

• Use not just 1 or 2, but 3 or 5-6, each one will have its own moment to be used and take advantage of their best features for the case you need.

• Learn more about each wallet app, to know them better and know in which case you could use the one that have the most appropiate features. Here I wrote 2 guides about BTC/LN wallets:

c. and many other guides about how to use wallets, submarine swaps, LN "Infrastructure Spending Machine"etc on my Substack blog, in English and Spanish

• Learn how to use the method of "3 levels stash", as I describe it in this guide

Think like a bank, not just be a bank...

A. HODL = your "central bank" with most of your stash, your reserve bank, barely moving it, onchain

B. CACHE = your "commercial bank" with medium size amounts, for redistributing to HODL and SPEND, onchain and LN, nodes channels etc

C. SPEND = your spending pockets, with small amounts, enough to cover your regular spending, LN, with funding source from your "CACHE bank".

• Don't be too obsessed with "self custody only". If is non-KYC it could have advantages in some cases. Not all custodial is bad. Be obsessed with "self-custody-only" for your HODL wallets not the spending wallets.

  This is where many users make the mistake and do the opposite. You can easily have your own wallets on your own node, as a "funding source" for all these custodial wallets.

  Move small amounts (enough to cover your spending habits) to them and use them. If are non-KYC, you have almost nothing to worry about "privacy", sometimes is even better not to reveal your own private node when you receive, not talking also about spending from these wallets as a good front wall.

• Each wallet app have its own technology implemented: some use directly nodes, some use electrum server, some will use neutrino, some use Tor, some use LND others Immortan or CLN, or both. Don't make the mistake of putting them all in the same situation/use case. Each implementation have its own advantages and disadvantages, depending on which situation you are.

• We are still early into Bitcoin and LN development. So first, test, learn the functionalities of each app you use and if you can, help the developer(s) of the app to improve it, give them the right feedback, don't complain. They don't know all situations or devices you are using, so give them as much information you can and explain ALL steps you did if you have an issue.

  Try to collaborate and help to make it better. Once you know better the app, help other new users to use it.

  Devs usually are busy with coding and they get bored with people complaining all the time about same things (mostly because users do not read manuals, FAQs, do not investigate more how to use the app). Bother the dev only when is a real issue or bug, that the community couldn't help you too much or many other users encounter the same situation with no exit.

The government company

The government is just a company; it has workers who do their jobs and it pays them salaries, just like any other company.

Examples of corporations posing as "governments"

The difference between the government company and other companies is that the government company imposes itself upon other companies as well as people.

It gets away with this because people think the government company is different and has special rights.

The British government company charges people for a TV license, which funds the BBC regardless of which TV channels people watch.

That's like if McDonald's charged people for a food license, which funds McDonald's food regardless of which food people eat.

Might makes right

The only law we live under (and will ever live under) is the law of the jungle. The government can only extort and imprison innocent people because it is the mightiest force of the land. I define might as strength and the willingness to use it. The population is stronger than the government but isn't willing to fight.

If McDonald's was mightier than the government, they would be able to impose a food license. Therefore, the government doesn't have special rights to extort and imprison people - all people and companies have the ability to extort and imprison people, so long as they are mighty enough.

If a bunch of people were to come together as a company and impose a new law that says, for example, that pedophiles get the rope - that would be no less unjust than a government imposing any other law.

Breaking contracts

People are not under the superstition that McDonald's has the right to prosecute them for breaking the McLaws that they didn't agree to, and if the McPolice tried to fine them for not paying the food license, people would fight back - and rightfully so.

In the same sense, you have the moral right to fight back against the government company that tries to prosecute you for breaking one of its ever changing laws that you didn't agree to.

Morality of laws

All laws are immoral as they impose upon the free will of another person. However, if you are strong enough to enforce a law and you believe it to be righteous (e.g. necessary to protect people), then you should enforce it, regardless of whether people believe you to be legitimate (government company) or not (person or company).

Moral of the story

Pass your own laws and enforce them. Look at government company laws as having the same legitimacy as McLaws.

Still few Lightning nodes operators knows that are two types of LN nodes:

• “public” - with announced channels, visible on the LN explorer, used mostly for routing payments across the network and “earn” fees.

• “private” - with un-announced channels, not visible on the LN explorer, used mostly by mobile node wallets, private nodes, LN wallet providers.

Running a LN node is not all about routing payments and earn fees. Is also about having a more private mode to transact and without having to participate with a lot of liquidity on public channels.

There are also two concepts of “private routing”, by trampoline channels (Electrum, Phoenix) and OBW private routing. That means you do not have to depend all the time of public channels/nodes to route your payment.

DarthCoin, already shut down all his public routing nodes and goes FULL ON PRIVATE NODES. One of them is Blixt mobile Node Wallet and also OBW. Apart from these is still running a desktop node, but is a simple CLN node, un-announced (private), where can connect also all mobile LN nodes and do more stuff.

Lately we are witnessing massive force closing channels on LN nodes and almost 5k nodes that are offline now (check on https://bitcoinvisuals.com/ln-nodes of today May 30 2022).

Is the first time in LN history when many nodes goes offline massively:

• more people moved to private nodes, not routing nodes anymore

• more noobs realized that "RPi Umbrel node model" is not good for "passive income"

• I will not be surprised that some big nodes with a business model based on "let’s fuck the users with high fees" are sending spam fake probing txs (unfulfilled HTLCs) just to fuck around with nodes that are using low fees. This form of attack is well known today and it is possible.
