Do not underestimate the power of the Dark Side...
Lately we are witnessing massive force closing channels on LN nodes and almost 5k nodes that are offline now (check on https://bitcoinvisuals.com/ln-nodes of today May 30 2022).
Is the first time in LN history when many nodes goes offline massively:
more people moved to private nodes, not routing nodes anymore
more noobs realized that "RPi Umbrel node model" is not good for "passive income"
I will not be surprised that some big nodes with a business model based on "let’s fuck the users with high fees" are sending spam fake probing txs (unfulfilled HTLCs) just to fuck around with nodes that are using low fees. This form of attack is well known today and it is possible.
